How does fashion trends start?. I found a great article that talks about how do fashion trends start by a fashion marketing expert, Allison Cooper, Love to Know: Beauty and Fashion.
In the article there are five ways fashion trends begin:
- Runaway Trends- "Fashion lovers wait in anticipation every season to see what has transpired in the minds of the designers that they love over the past months". Runaway trends or fashion show influences the newest trends. Runaway clothes are made by fashion designer, which are fashionable. During runaways the models wear the clothes made by fashion designer, by modeling the clothes people can see how the clothes looks like and how it fits a body, which brings appeal to them and give more interest to buyers.
- Street Style- "'street style' is a newer term in the world of fashion". The word Street style refers to the looks that we see everyday on the streets. Sometimes while just walking on the streets or going outside for a walk we sometimes see other people that wear clothes that we like and that can impact us. You might probably buy an outfit just like the girl's outfit that you saw the other day. Until the same thing happens and it becomes a trend
- Celebrities- "...celebrities are one of the biggest driving forces in trend creation! The public covets celebrities and follows their every move, hanging on to their every word". Celebrities and the most influential people when it comes to fashion. People keep tract on every clothes they wear; people admire them. Most of the trends I should say, are mainly influenced from them. Celebrities are the people who most of us look upon and praise at some point. They are the trendsetters!.
- Fashion Bloggers- "fashion bloggers have proven to the masses that they have great taste and are creating trends in the fashion world". Fashion bloggers often influence fashion trends too, especially in their area. Fashion designers sometimes relay on them and use them to promotes new clothes. They endorse clothes and writes review about it; they write their own opinion on a certain clothe brand. Editing their picture can also make their clothes enticing to the viewers.
- Fashion Capitals of the World- "Trends from around the world show fashion through a different set of eyes and enable fashion lovers to bring something new into their world". There are lots of trendy clothes that are inspired by a certain place or city. People search up for newest style all over the world, especially to the fashion capitals like, New York City, Paris, Milan, and London. People who are in search for fashion on fashion capitals are: fashion bloggers, lovers, designers, and magazine editors-in-chief.
To sum up, I think these things is making a gigantic impact on the fashion industry. Any simple ideas like an old clothe that redesigned can transform into something nice that will trend word wide. Particularly because of social networking sites, spreading new trends online is really easy and fast. There are clothes that will trend for a certain period of time, but overtime it will come to past and there will be more fashion trends to come. Fashion trends is also like a cycle some fashion trends that are popular back in 1800's or 1900's can be popular again.
