The isolated land from reality

Did you know that 738 million people globally lack access to clean water and 37 percent are living in sub-Saharan Africa?  I found an interesting article from the Borgen Project, which is a non-profit organization trying to end poverty.

In "Top 10 poverty in Africa facts" the author gives 10 very meaningful facts about poverty in Africa. As I read the Blog I was shock about the facts given about south Africa. Below  are 5 facts that I was most surprised by.

  • Seventy-five percent of the world’s poorest countries are located in Africa,
  • Approximately one in three people living in sub-Saharan Africa are undernourished.
  • In sub-Saharan Africa, 589 million people live without electricity
  • Every year, sub-Saharan Africa loses $28.4 billion to water and sanitation problems.
  • Thirty-eight percent of the world’s refugees are located in Africa. Fewer than 20 percent of African women have access to education.

This article demonstrates how Africa isn't as developed as America. It also talks about their conditions and way of life. I think that America doesn't realize how bad the conditions are in Africa.
