Childish Genius Mozart

Q:What is the difference between Mozart and the composer before him like Josef Haydn?

A: I listened Haydn's symphony 94 and Serenade No. 10 (Gran Partita, K 361), 3rd Movement by Mozart. and made some conclusions. The biggest different is Mozart's music always very smoothly, even though there are a lot of different style in his music. Unlike Mozart, Haydn's music always make you surprise. For example, Haydn's symphony 94 4th movement, it start very soft, however after several measures, the dynamics turns to fortissimo. After one second, it turns to mezzo-piano again. Also, there a some tune turns into minor in the symphony. Mozart not always do that, his music always be reasonable and the relationship between every part is perfectly connect.

Q:Why Mozart is important to music history?

A: I found the answer to this question on Biography.com, a website that shares information about famous historical people. Mozart's father was a huge influence on the budding musician. At age 3, Wolfgang was already playing the piano and had perfect-pitch. By the age of 5, Mozart already wrote a miniature allegro (K. 1b) and andante (K. 1a). When Wolfgang was 6, Leopold decided to take him and his sister, Maria Anna (who was also a music prodigy), on tour to Europe. The young musicians performed at various locations such as royal courts where queens, emperors and other prestigious guests were in attendance. He also influenced Beethoven a lot and there are some similar style in Beethoven's music. As a result, Mozart play a role that connect the music style before and after him, so he is very important.

Q: What music is very famous by Mozart?
A: Mozart composed a lot of very good music such as symphony 40 in F minor, Magic flutes opera. As for me, I like Symphony #25 in G Minor, K 183 first movement best. In this music, it starts in a very cool and excited melody, but suddenly the tone turns to a soft a sad feel. This feeling disappeared very soon and then back to the theme( the cool parts) All in all, the tone turned very frequently and natural in this one, so I like it best.

FUTURE RESEARCH: What are the different ways composers create feelings in their listeners?
How does the culture of a time period affect the music that is composed?
