current event "fighting the deadly disease of Ebola"

In the article, "Fighting the deadly disease of Ebola it explains that this outbreak has caused a worldwide problem. People are wondering what will it take to put end to this outbreak? Two students explained their thoughts about the end of Ebola. One study suggests at least half of all ill patients would need to be isolated and the other study said, even more people need to be isolated. Based on his math, seven out of 10 patients with the disease need to be isolated. If the sick people are not isolated Ebola could continue to spread for many years. This is the case because on average an ill patient makes 2 other people sick. The World Health Organization has already counted 7,178 cases. The CDC thinks to stop the disease from spreading we need to isolate half of the sick people. In 1918 the Flu killed more than 30 million people but it spread much after than Ebola. Example each ill person made two to five people ill and Ebola patients make about 2 other people get it.

I agree with CDC that half of Ebola patients need to be isolated because if we Isolate at least half than only half the disease will spread and it might not end up like the flu.

Discussion questions
What do you think it takes to stop the spread of Ebola?
How many people should be isolated?

Do you agree with CDC? why?

  2. I agree with CDC. I think the patients need to be isolated, because each patient can spread the decease to others. This outbreak already covered a large area. We must isolate the patients in order to stop it!

  3. I think they should isolate every people who acquired the disease because it'll make it worst if they'll just isolate at least half. Prevention is better than cure. :D

  4. i agree with the CDC because they should at least try to help some of those people and try to stop that disease before it spread it everywhere.

  5. I don’t agree with CDC. In my opinion I think we should isolate as many patients as possible, because more people will get infected if the other half is still out. The number of infections will only increase if there are still patients outside. I think we should isolate all the patients in order to control the disease.
