SUMMARY:
In the article, "Big data helps NBA basketball teams make better plans for the big game" explains when there were arguments in a game, they used the computer to give themselves an advantage in the most time. But sometimes it also could not solve the problem correctly, so NBA chooses to use information from a company called SportVU this year. Cameras from SportVU are installed everywhere so they can record all the player's position and action. The SportVU also can do many useful things. The cameras can also tell how much players run during games to help teams make better decisions. In addition, it can show how good players are on defense as well. It is good for coaches to collect data.

I agree NBA's action. There is really no way to know players' conditions, not only for fans, but also for coaches. SportVU makes a new useful solution. Another good thing for the whole team is it can determine how fast players move, how often they change direction and how much they run during a game. It can track how well players shoot from particular spots on the court. Coaches can learn how well a particular player guards another or how well a team does against a certain defense. That can be accurate data for coaches and players to know the tactic.

It's amazing how technology is changing games like basketball that have been around for a very long time. It's good that SportsVU is giving more data about players but I hope it doesn't change how people play too much. For example, basketball players should be able to think for themselves on how to play defense instead of relying on a computer to guide them.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the skill of one member of the team is very important. I think the team work is more important than the skill that only one can did. It's because Basketball is the sport that between two group of person. If you only have a good skill but not the good team work. You still cannot win the games!
